and I am thankful for:

  • Doug – he took me out for drinks last night. He tried to calm my frazzled state of mind last night. He told me he was thankful for me today.
  • ANTM again! Yes I am watching the encore presentation tonight. We were watching the Bengals/Steelers game, but TJ and William went to bed. So you know I turned the channel.
  • More quiet time. Everybody is in bed sleeping but me. I love my alone time.
  • Family time. We had some quality time together tonight as a family. It was very nice. I love the way TJ and Allan interact with one another.

Life is good and I am thankful for it. This life I live is great and I am so thankful for it. I love it.

The Toddler Diet

You folks with toddlers should relate to this one!

Over the years you may have noticed, as I have, that most two-year-olds are trim. It came to me one day over a glass of water and a carrot that perhaps their diet is the reason.

After consultation with pediatricians, X-ray technicians, and distraught Moms, I was able to formulate this new diet. It is inexpensive, offering great variety and sufficient quantity. Before embarking on this diet, however, be sure to check with your doctor -- otherwise, you might have to see him afterward.

DAY ONE
Breakfast: One scrambled egg, one piece of toast with grape jelly. Eat 2 bites of egg, using your fingers; dump the rest on the floor. Take 1 bite of toast, then smear the jelly over your face and clothes.

Lunch: Four crayons (any color), a handful of potato chips, and a glass of milk (3 sips only, then spill the rest).

Dinner: A dry stick, two pennies and a nickel, 4 sips of flat Pepsi.

Bedtime snack: Toast a piece of bread and toss it on the kitchen floor.

DAY TWO
Breakfast: Pick up stale toast from kitchen floor and eat it. Drink half bottle of vanilla extract or one vial of vegetable dye.

Lunch: Half a tube of "Pulsating Pink" lipstick and a handful of Purina Dog Chow (any flavor). One ice cube, if desired.

Afternoon Snack: Lick an all-day sucker until sticky, take outside, drop in dirt. Retrieve and continue slurping until it is clean again. Then bring inside and drop on the rug.

Dinner: A rock or an uncooked bean, which should be thrust up your left nostril. Pour grape Kool-Aid over mashed potatoes; eat with a spoon.

DAY THREE
Breakfast: Two pancakes with plenty of syrup, eat one with fingers, rub in hair. Glass of milk; drink half, stuff other pancake in glass. After breakfast, pick up yesterday's sucker from rug, lick off fuzz, and put it on the cushion of your best chair.

Lunch: Three matches, peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Spit several bites onto the floor. Pour glass of milk on table and slurp up.

Dinner: Dish of ice cream, handful of potato chips, some red punch.

FINAL DAY
Breakfast: A quarter-tube of toothpaste (any flavor), bit of soap, an olive. Pour a glass of milk over bowl of Cornflakes, add a half cup of sugar. Once cereal is soggy, drink milk and feed cereal to dog.

Lunch: Eat crumbs off kitchen floor and dining room carpet. Find that sucker and finish eating it.

Dinner: A glass of spaghetti and chocolate milk. Leave meatball on plate. Stick of mascara for dessert.

Yesterday Tried Me

I was having a really good day yesterday. Allan and William both went to a birthday party/sleepover. I had hours home alone. Much needed alone time.

I cleaned and refreshed the house and I took a nice nap.

Then TJ started tripping on me. He kept texting me about his gf. He wants to spend more time with her and I am not making it easy for him to. Hell, he works all the time. But the details of his tripping is really inconsequential to this entry.

The main idea is that I was nurturing me yesterday and that teenager almost came between me and this goal. I called my special friend and he told me not stress it.

So, I took his advice. I was contemplating staying home and wallowing in the fact that being a single parent is damn hard work. However, he swooped through and took me out for drinks. He even picked up the teenager from work. That was nurturing for me. The full body massage also helped.

I slept in today as part of my nurture me goal. My mind and my body needed it today. My spirit and my soul needed the work I accomplished yesterday.

Go nurture yourself.

Something I Do Not Recommend

I’ve done it. I’ve tried it and it does not work.

Living to “make people happy” is really not a fulfilling way to live.

When I was in the people pleasing business I was miserable. Mostly because I really did not know what it took to make people happy. I did what they wanted, but because they were NOT happy with themselves, they could not be happy because of something I did.

I have since learned that happiness must come from within. It’s how you see things, not necessarily how you do things.

Since I have left the people pleasing business, I myself have become much happier. I have also attracted happy individuals to my circle.

True happiness comes from within, not from others. Therefore it is nearly impossible to “make people happy”.

Life Partners

Life Partners

The day I got married I told myself that if it didn't work out I could get a divorce. Little did I know that the moment new life entered me I would change my mind. Once my son was born, I wanted to be life partners with his father. Obviously that plan did not succeed.

A life partner can be described as a romantic partner for life. My own personal definition of a life partner is similar yet somewhat different. A life partner is more than just a romantic partner for life. My life partner is the person who is my friend for life, my confidant for life, my caretaker for life, my caregiver for life, my partner in crime for life, my most special friend for life. My life partner is the man who wants to spend the rest of his life living with me, sharing with me, caring with me, being with me, tolerating all of me in all of my glory and my many moods de jeur and vice versa. I reciprocate all of the above to my life partner and then some.

While I will agree that a life partner is also a romantic partner for life, I submit that a life partner accepts that there may or may not be other temporary and sporadic romantic interests throughout life, but none that are permanent but him.

My life partner loves me unconditionally and accepts all of my glory and flaws. I do the same for him.

My life partner knows that I have interests outside of our special relationship and accepts them as they are. I do the same for him.

My life partner knows that I will always come home to him. I know he will always come home to me. He has provided a safe place called home just for me. My life partner understands how important home is to me.

My life partner knows that I want no one else but him. My life partner wants no one but me. I am all the woman he needs, desires, and wants. He is more than enough man for me. My life partner is not jealous of other relationships I have cultivated outside of our life partnership. I am secure with my life partner's other relationships because he is my chosen partner for life. He is committed to me and I am commited to him.

I have been told that because I married so young I did not have the opportunity to live life fully and have all of the fun young people are supposed to have. That may be true. However since my divorce I have had my share of "dates" and experiences with the opposite sex. I have experienced enough to know what I want and what I do not want. I have decided that I do want a life partnership versus that other intermittent stuff I have experienced over the years. I have had my share of so called fun. I can have fun with my life partner. He's cool with me and he trusts me.
