Birthday Weekend 2012

The birthday weekend started out pretty uneventful.
I took Friday off to go play with my girlfriends at Career Conference in Duluth GA.
We ate lunch at Chipotle on Friday and ALL of us got ill.  UGH.
Saturday's lunch was a nice linen affair.
Cheesecake

Flower arrangement that I should have stolen.

Me looking kinda tired.

Bracelet I won! Yay!

Sunday morning was really NICE.  I slept in, didn't go to church, didn't watch tv.  Went outside for some air and found this iris in the backyard.  I thought the dog dug up all my bulbs I planted.  Obviously she missed about 3 of them.  Yay AGAIN! I thought it was a lovely sight after that storm on Saturday. A sweet birthday present to wake up to.
Sunday I had to get boys from their dad.  I went to Christina's to get my gift & a glass of merlot.  Company with friends you love is always a treat. I had some birthday cake there and enjoyed the girls.
Sunday night my youngest brother and his wife came over with lilies and a birthday cake.  How sweet.

I didn't party this year like I did last year, but this birthday was so sweet to me.  I felt loved, special and extremely blessed.

So grateful for March 25, 2012.

Please Help

Dear Friends and Family,
As many of you know, my sister passed away yesterday.  I have received many messages of condolences and offers of support from many of you.

My brother and I will be flying out of Charlotte to Alexandria LA tomorrow.  We need help with our airfare.  The bereavement rates are around $490 per person.  I found a cheaper rate at Hotwire.com.  Please send me a private message if you are willing to help and can help.

Thanks again and much love,
Keala

How Much More Can I Take?

I'm so tired of the loss.  I really am.

My dad died March 16, 2009.
My best friend and cousin died April 3, 2010.
My sister died April 12, 2011!

Am I to expect someone close to me to die every year here after?  I am so sick of this assault on my family and the people I love.

Dear Lord,
Please don't take away any more of my family members in the next few years, including myself.  I'm tired of saying good bye to people I love so much.  I don't want to miss another family member and sit and reminisce about the times we shared.  I'm too tired for that.  Please give us more time together.

I was so blessed to have these beautiful people touch my life.  John Brown filled me with so much of his love that I couldn't feel a gaping hole in my heart when he left.  When he left me, he left so much of him inside of me I am so blessed to have had him in my life.  So blessed to have been his first born.  So blessed.
Timothy was my introduction to what little boys are made of.  Frogs and snails and puppy dog tails.  That's what little boys are made of.  We got into mischief at Grandma's together.  I'm not sure if he started the mischief or if I started it.  Whoever started it, we enjoyed the fun and punishment together.  We were very competitive too.  My Ace!  My main mayne MAN.  RIP Dude!

Kathy Gamble was The Beautiful One!  I believe when Prince wrote that song he had her in mind.  I was jealous of her because I thought she stole my mom from me.  Little did I know that Mom had enough love for both of us.  Kathy was such a fragile soul.  She was easy to love and easy to hate at the same time.  You never had to question where you stood with her because she always made it clear.  Love me some Kathy.  She was way too young to leave this place and way too young to suffer the way she suffered.  I pray she is at complete peace now.  She deserves to have love peace and Heaven.

Old School William

Happy Birthday to my middle son William Harrison Jacobs. Today he turns 13 years old. WOW! As soon as one leaves the teen years the next one enters the teen years.
William has been my guilty pleasure for years. He is charming, outgoing, loving, incredibly intelligent and an all out JOY to be around. When people meet William they automatically love him. You just have to meet him to know what I'm talking about.

Intimate Partner Violence Facts

pr1 What is Intimate Partner Violence?
Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) is emotional, verbal, physical or sexual violence occurring between partners. IPV takes place regardless of sexual orientation, race, social status, economic status, age group or educational background. IPV is not a heterosexual phenomenon nor is it based on gender. IPV is a choice to exert power and control over one’s partner.
Is IPV Always Physical Abuse?
In IPV abusers use control, rape, power, manipulation, isolation, lies, intimidation, weapons, economic control, harassment, verbal and emotional abuse, racism, and coercive and violent actions against their partners. IPV does not necessarily leave a visible wound or bruise.
Unique Challenges That LGBTQ Individuals Face When
Experiencing IPV
• Homosexuality is a divisive issue for many families that may result in
the rejection of the family members who identify as lesbian, gay, bi- sexual or transgender. Therefore, many LGBTQ individuals find a sense of belonging with their partners that they may not experience with their own families. This sense of belonging can make it difficult to end an abusive relationship.
• Institutional biases, such as heterosexism and homophobia, may decrease access to the services or support available to LGBTQ individuals who are experiencing IPV.
• Abusers may employ homophobic rhetoric in the treatment of their partners, reinforcing shame and fear in their partners.
Statistics About Intimate Partner Violence in LGBTQ Communities
Little research has been done on LGBTQ IPV. One reason is that scholarship on the LGBTQ community is in its infancy, and much of the research that exists
concentrates on sexuality or the experience of coming out. Second, LGBTQ IPV is
under-reported because of victims’ experiences of homophobia, heterosexism and
racism.
The National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs (NCAVP), which is made up of 33 members nationwide, is one of the few organizations that gather statistics on IPV in LGBTQ relationships. NCAVP reports the following:*
Nationwide:
• IPV occurs in 1 out of 4 heterosexual relationships, and it is predicted that similar rates exist in LGBTQ relationships.
• About 34% of the reported victims of IPV were between 19 and 49 years old.
• Over 38% of the victims who reported incidences of IPV were people of color.

*All statistics reported in this document are derived from National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs. Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Domestic Violence In The United States In 2006. To view the complete report, visit www.ncavp.org.

My Handsome Son

He will be 20 soon.
It's amazing he smiled for this photo because he can be camera shy with MOMMY.
I'm so proud of him.

He's grown so much since taking these photos. He went away to training back in February a mixture of a man and a teen. He was already quite mature but after being stripped and rebuilt he called me. When I answered the phone I had to ask, "Who is this MAN who stole my son's deep voice?" You could hear authority, confidence, and strength in his voice. I thoroughly enjoyed the past 20 years being his mom. I'm tearing up as I type this because I love him so much and I am STILL very proud of my young man.

Happy Birthday to My First Born Son, Anthony Clifton Louis Jacobs, Jr. Momma loves you so much dear!

To Those I love and Those Who Love Me

When I am gone, release me, and let me go
I have so many things to see and do.
You must not tie yourself to me with tears,
Be thankful for our beautiful years.
I gave to you my love.  You can only guess
How much you gave to me in happiness.
I thank you for the love you each have shown,
But for now it's time I traveled on alone.
So grieve a while for me, if you must,
Then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It's only for a time that we must part
So bless the memories within your heart.
I won't be far away, for life goes on
So if you need me, call, and I will come.
Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near
And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear
All my love around you soft and clear.
And then, when you must come this way
Alone.
I'll greet you with a smile and say:
"WELCOME HOME"

Attitudes Are Contagious

Attitudes are contagious. Are yours worth catching? ~Dennis and Wendy Mannering
Allan said his are not worth catching because he takes everything personally. He’s learning that everything is not always about him. He agrees to work on his attitude.
William has a great attitude in my opinion. He doesn’t take too many things personally either.
I loved William’s attitude when his football team played in the little league Super Bowl and he didn’t get any play time that night. It was cold and pouring rain. All William cared about was that he was on a football team and his team won.
After the game when all of the players and parents assembled in the locker room, William was found posing and taking pictures with the championship trophy. His attitude was GREAT.
Some of the other players who didn’t get play time were crying, angry, pouting and complaining. Not William, he was posing with the trophies and giving himself kudos for cheering on his teammates who actually played in the game.
Go William!

Amira Again

I took these the other day she came over.
