When the Israelites were in the wilderness/desert traveling from Egypt to The Promised Land, God provided them with all of the water and manna that they needed. Even with all of the manna and water that they needed along with a guide to follow by day and night, there were some of them who were still ungrateful.
Water from a rock from God was not good enough for some of them because they longed for what they had when they were captives back in Egypt. (Who would want anything that is left over from their old captive lifestyle?) They complained about the manna (Angel Food! Who complains about Angel Food?) because they missed the meals they were used to back in Egypt (captivity). God had a different plan for them and they were still ungrateful.
What the Israelites did not realize was that God was imposing on them a much needed fast to purge them of everything (old habits, old routines, food, stinking thinking, complacency, etc..) they acquired in Egypt. They couldn't live and thrive in The Promised Land with the lifestyle they had become accustomed to in Egypt (captivity). None of that was not allowed in The Promised Land.
When a fast is imposed on you by God, accept it, learn from it, and grow with it so that you can move on to the next level (The Promised Land) in His time His way. Pray for vision and guidance during your fast and accept it as the Blessing from God that it is. He is just preparing you for the next level (The Promised Land).
What is your captivity?
What is your wilderness/desert/God imposed fast?
What is your Promised Land?
How are you thankful for the fast and how are you obeying God to make it to The Promised Land?
